Dedicated to the memory of Sheila

This site is a tribute to Sheila Buckthorp. She is much loved and will always be remembered.

Sheila Charlotte Buckthorp passed away peacefully on March 16th, 2022 at 94 years old. Born February 13th, 1928 to William and Dorothy Clipsham of Lincoln, she attended South Park High School followed by secretarial college. She went on to work as a legal secretary and then secretary at Moorland Infants and Nursery school for many years. She was a loving wife to Bill (William) Buckthorp (1925-1991).

Sheila believed “All the world’s a stage” and was an avid performer in and supporter of local theater, as well as a talented ballroom and tap dancer. She received her LRAM in speech and drama and taught drama and elocution privately. Aside from the arts, Sheila was an ardent student of English history.

Sheila is survived by her loving family. Daughter Helen Soderberg (nee Buckthorp), three grandchildren Edward, Fiona and Henry Soderberg, and two great grandchildren Penelope “Poppy” and Quinn Mundell.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lincoln & Lindsey Blind Society and St. Barnabas Hospice.

Thoughts

Sheila was a star of amateur dramatics and will be remembered for treading the boards at Lincoln Theatre Royal for many years. A true trouper.

Sheila was a delight, spunky, hilarious, stubborn, and truly unique to grow up with as a Nana. Every summer and Christmas she came to visit us no matter where we lived in the world-- and we loved coming back to Lincoln to see her. Three and a half years ago I last came to visit and brought my husband, and I'm so glad he got to meet her-- even if she did say "he can leave his boots under my bed anyday" 😯😂. We now have two little daughters and I hope at least one of them picks up her love of drama. Thank you to the staff at Brantley Manor for taking such great care of her these past few years. Being so far away (in Seattle), I cannot express deeply enough what peace of mind I had having her being taken care of by such wonderful people. It was a hard choice moving her away from her home, but we are so glad we did and she found such a wonderful and loving place with magical people. She will be missed, but not long forgotten. As she wanted us to say, bloody good show, Sheila!
